The James J. Rzad Science & Pre-Engineering Center

Housed on the ground floor of the school, this technologically advanced Center offers students the opportunity to learn in facilities comparable to those found in colleges, hospitals and research laboratories. The Center contains three technically sophisticated, fully equipped laboratories and a conference/seminar room that will include 20 computer stations. Timon's science program now offers instruction based on 21st century technology while anticipating future growth in this rapidly evolving field.

The Centers Computer Based Labs (CBL) are equipped with 4 SMART boards, offering touch-sensitive surfaces to manipulate, access and control a variety of multimedia material and LED projectors normally found at the college level. This technology offers a significant benefit when working with graphs that are too complex to communicate on standard white board.

Timon installed an Observatory with the same high-powered telescope used by the Buffalo Astrological Association and is not found on the high school level in Western New York. Students will have the ability to view Mars, solar or lunar eclipses, the rings of Saturn, and witness the break up of comets, like Schmacher-Levy did several years ago. Images will also be recorded for future classroom lessons.

As one of Channel 4s WeatherNet stations, Timons weather station offers opportunities for in-depth lessons using data collected from our site, transmitted not only to Channel 4 but also to the Earth Science lab and to the main lobby where weather data can be viewed by the entire student body.
