Timon Students Roll Up Their Sleeves!
3/11/2010
Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School sponsored a blood drive on March 10, 2010 and collected 54 units of blood for area patients, including several from first-time donors! The young men of Timon achieved more than 64% participation rate this year, nearly 15% higher than last year! Timon’s contribution could ultimately help save the lives of up to 162 patients, since each blood donation can help up to three patients.
This drive added to blood collected during the fall drive, and brought Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School’s total collections for the 2009-10 academic year to 117 donations! The young men of Timon can proudly say that they were responsible for saving the lives of up to 351 patients right here in Western New York!
Blood comes from only one source – healthy, volunteer donors. Sponsoring a blood drive is an important event that more than supports and strengthens the community. It saves lives! Saving lives is no small task, and the six to eight minutes each donor spent giving blood can translate to a lifetime of hope for the patients who receive the donations.
