Drama Club

The Bishop Timon-St. Jude Drama Club has formed a joint venture with Mount Mercy Academy to create one single Drama Club.

In the previous years, the Drama Club has gone on field trips to such places as The Pfeiffer Theatre in Downtown Buffalo, The Center for the Arts at the University of New York at Buffalo , the Irish Classical Theater, Kavinoky Theater, Studio Arena, and has spent a full day in Toronto attending various performances.

Some of the past musical productions that the Drama Club has been involved with included Damn Yankees, Over Here, Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors and Kenny award winning musicals; The Wizard of Oz and The Music Man. All productions are presented with the help of a core group of Timon Alumni: Moderators Bob Maggio & Jerry Kegler. This year's show, to be held at Bishop Timon Auditorium on November 2,3 & 4 2007 is Godspell.

Six years ago, Timon's Little Theatre was brought back to life. The Drama Club is the "right-hand" of these productions. Previous shows include Twelve Angry Jurors, Harvey , M.A.S.H., and Get Smart. These plays are presented in the new Center for the Media and Arts on the third floor of the school.

The Drama Club played a significant role in the construction and rehab of the third floor of the Columbus side of the school. Through their efforts, and the countless hours of dedicated alumni, the new jewel of Timon has been created-The Center for the Media and Arts. With the addition of this new Center, the Drama Club has been active in hosting "guest artist presentations". In recent years, Vincent O'Neil has conducted readings of "Angela's Ashes", "Joyicity", and "The Importance of Being Oscar". In additions, workshop are presented by professional teachers in such areas as Audition techniques, Lighting Design, Theater Employment, and Stage Crew training in lighting, sound, and scenery construction.

Besides being involved with dramatic theater productions, the Drama Club also participates in community activities. Last year, the Drama Club collected canned goods, food and clothes for the St. Rita and Pat's Christmas Fund Drive. This year, this fund drive has been renamed to the " Max McCabe Christmas Fund Drive for St. Rita and Pat's" in memory of a Timon alumnus-a true, dedicated friend of Timon and the Arts. The club also helps out with the annual Timon Lawn Fete by staffing the ticket booth for the food and concessions.
