At the heart of Timon's philosophy is its commitment to academic excellence. Every day, the teachers of our school strive to help every student reach his full potential. We do this by offering college level courses for accelerated students, and personal attention and extra help to those students in need . With small class sizes and a 14 to 1 student-teacher ratio, Timon offers an environment conductive to learning, while enabling teachers to personally know each student.

Diverse course offerings ensure the development of a well-rounded Timon man. That is why we are offering a variety of different experiences in our classrooms. The addition of the unique center for media and the arts with courses in graphic design, theatre design, music, and video production, photography and sound recording has greatly helped in this regard. Professionals in their respective fields teach these classes with state-of-the-art equipment at their disposal. Our students benefit beyond traditional book knowledge by working closely with teachers who have spent time in the professional world and can give them a better sense of the career opportunities that are available to them. To expand classroom learning, Timon also affords students the opportunities to work at a downtown theatre company and an advertising agency.

To supplement classroom instruction, students requiring help can benefit from the academic skills center at Timon. Here they find individual and small group tutoring in all subjects, help with projects and research papers, and special classes in preparation for major exams . Students are assigned to the center by the guidance department when necessary, or they can access the center during their study hall.

To recognize students who have excelled academically throughout the year, Timon has an academic honors program . Each quarter, the school awards various honors to students with 85%cumulitive averages and higher, along with those who have raised their averages five points more. At the end of the school year, Timon awards certain students the Bishop Timon St.Jude All Stars Honor, and also presents awards for excellence in particular subjects, placement on national tests, and other significant academic achievement.

Timon's graduating class of 2007 continued a tradition of excellence. They were awarded $3.5 million dollars in scholarships to attend college. Class valedictorian Jeffrey Amplement is attending Canisius College and Co-Salutatorian Justin Acker is attending Saint John Fisher College and Co-Salutatorian Nicholas Lombardo is attending the University of Buffalo.
